AC ART LESSONS FOR KIDS

My private Art Lessons take place at the child’s home; these are tailored to suit the needs of your child.

Objectives are to bring out the child’s artistic capabilities, instill confidence and provide a platform for expressing themselves through the medium of art. Lessons include drawing and painting (with watercolor and acrylics) from the imagination and still life. A wide range of techniques and materials will be explored, such as clay, paper mache, decoupage, linocuts, oil pastels, fabric, collage and more!

ART LESSONS ONE-ON-ONE

Lessons one-on-one take place at the child’s home and run 90 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the project the child's engagement.

A theme is established for each lesson; these can be requested by the parents or the child. Examples include: animals, faces, sceneries, seasons etc.

The first part of the lesson is tailored to improve drawing from life, painting techniques and composition. This practice helps improve the child’s focus and drawing capability. The second part of the lesson consists of a more free and imaginative project. This is the time for the child to develop his/her own free- style while incorporating the techniques learned earlier.

For every lesson I bring the art books that are pertinent to the lesson theme for the day. The books will be used as inspiration for the child; an assignment will be left for the child to practice on their own.

I recommend that parents schedule at least one lesson per week so that the progressions of the lessons are not interrupted. The minimum time recommended is 12 weeks, though can be adjusted to fit the needs of the parent and the child. At the conclusion of the designated sessions, the work of the child will be compiled in a portfolio.

INNOVATIVE LESSONS

Innovative lessons are fun and less structured then the One-On-One lessons. The Innovative Lessons would ideally be incorporated once a month with the One-On-One lessons.

-“En plein air”: these are out-door lessons and spring is the perfect time to be painting in the park with canvas and easel!

-“At the museum “s: drawing from life at the Natural History Museum, or one of the many art museums in NYC, like the MOMA, Guggenheim etc.

-“Arts and craft”: these lessons explore a wide range of materials and can be season or holiday inspired.

GROUP LESSONS & BIRTHDAY PARTIES

Group lessons tend to be more communal and the project work more interactive. For example: decoupage on wooden boxes or making hand puppets. Arts and crafts lessons could include working with paper mache, making jewelry or wind chimes, and painting T-Shirts are just some examples; all great for a group project or birthday activity.

FEE & SCHEDULE

Materials are not included in all pricing.

First lesson $60, valid for a group session as well.

ONE-ON-ONE: $80 per session.

INNOVATIVE LESSON: $100 per session.

GROUP CLASSES: of 2-4 children, $50 per child.

one month: example: 3 ONE-ON-ONE + 1 innovative cost is $300
